Ryan Nelsen Knee Surgery
The Mail Online reported on 14th April 2011 that:
Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen has been ruled out for the rest of the season after having a knee operation on Monday.
The New Zealand ineternational was forced off with the problem during last weekend’s 1-1 Barclays Premier League draw against Birmingham and manager Steve Kean revealed there was no option but for Nelsen to go under the knife.
Kean said of the operation: ‘It went well. The surgeon was happy about it and he had a full clearout.
‘There were a lot of little bits of floating debris in his knee that he’s been in a lot of pain with. He couldn’t manage to go on.
‘We’re hopeful he’ll be back in time for pre-season.’
Ryan managed back to fitness to play against Aston Villa on 20th August 2011.
However a week later the club website said:
The club captain is still troubled by his knee injury despite his return to action against Aston Villa last weekend.
“With Ryan he is finding that there is a bit of pain in his knee from the Villa game so he’ll be assessed,” added Kean.
“He started training with us and felt it a bit so hopefully that’ll settle down, if he doesn’t make this game it won’t be a long term one.”
