or at the sides Oblique Abdominals
or low down in the pelvis where they attach.

This latter injury can feel and behave like a groin strain.

Diaby Ankle Surgery Update

Midfielder Abou Diaby has missed the poor start of Arsenal’s season after having ankle surgery during the summer. Diaby, 25, had been suffering from a niggling injury last season.

On October 31, Arsene Wenger said: “You won’t see him for a while, the next three weeks. He will not play for France either. I am worried but I was more worried three months ago. His ankle was not good but the surgery went very well then. Now his balance has changed so he has to adjust his muscular strength. He has had two small muscular concerns and if he can get rid of them in the next two to three weeks he will be ready. It’s a good time to get him right as we have a two-week break after Saturday.”

Jamie Mackie Broken Leg Update

Jamie Mackie broke his leg in the cup game against Blackburn Rovers on 8th January 2011.

Today QPR Website reported:
QPR Reserves beat a Brighton XI at the Club’s training ground this afternoon in an eight-goal thriller.

The entertaining match also featured the return of attacker Jamie Mackie, who made a second-half appearance after a nine-month spell on the sidelines.

Mackie, incidentally, didn’t find out he was set to feature until after First Team training this morning.

Mackie came close to marking his return with a goal, but the Rangers number 12 just missed the target on two occasions, in what was overall a momentous step for the 26 year-old.

Jack Wilshere Ankle Injury Update

Wilshere Ankle Injury Update

Evening Standard yesterdat reported:
Arsene Wenger today defended his medical staff over criticism of the club’s handling of Jack Wilshere’s injury.

The Arsenal midfielder has been ruled out until the end of February after undergoing an operation to mend a stress fracture in his right ankle.

Wilshere originally sustained the problem in England’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland in June – a match Wenger advised the 19-year-old should not have played in – before suffering a further setback in the Gunners’ pre-season match against New York Red Bulls in July.

Wenger claimed last month that Wilshere’s absence would be around a week as “usually, he’s a quick healer” but the prognosis has progressively worsened with the player himself using Twitter last week to declare he would be fit by Christmas.

However, the club have now confirmed Wilshere will be out for “four to five months” after undergoing successful surgery yesterday, prompting questions as to why the condition deteriorated so badly.

But manager Wenger said: “It is unfair to criticise [us] because the club’s medical staff haven’t made any mistake on that front. It is unfortunate, we are all very sad at the club that it has happened to such a young boy.

“It was a big relief yesterday for everybody at the club that the operation went well. I don’t think that the medical staff made any mistake on this case.

“I think the red collar [Arsenal] attracts a lot of criticism. It shows we are a very popular club and it is something that we have to accept. It is part of the popularity of any club.

“The news we’ve just had is very positive but, of course, he will be out for quite a long time. It is very difficult to predict how long but at least four months certainly.

“The injury has changed a bit because the fracture he had didn’t heal. What I’ve been told is that we had to go in quite quickly to repair it and that’s why we decided to do it so quickly.

“He had an early fracture at the age of 16 that healed and around that he created another opening. Is it down to a kick, is it down to playing too much? I don’t know, I am not a specialist, but that is unfortunately what happened. He told me he felt it the first time against Switzerland.”

James Vaughan’s Knee Injury

On Tuesday 27th September 2011, the Pink’un reported:

City boss Paul Lambert confirmed the luckless striker will undergo scans after leaving the action barely ten minutes into his second half cameo during the closing stages of the televised win.

Vaughan has not damaged the same knee the former Evertonian injured earlier in his career – but Lambert admitted the early signs were not encouraging. “His knee locked and when that happens something has usually gone in it,” said Lambert.

“We’ll just have to wait and see. The only good thing is it’s not the same knee that he hurt the last time – that is the only good thing. That is maybe the one bit of positivity we can take from it.”
